An emotional Wendy Williams admitted Tuesday she is staying in a sober living house, reported CNN.com today.
The host of the “Wendy Williams Show” was up front with her studio and television viewers as she talked about her past problems with addiction.
You know, I’ve had a struggle with cocaine in the past. I never went to a place to get treatment. There are people in your family–it might be you,” said the glamorous talk show host known for her purple chair.
“I want you to know more of the story.”
According to CNN.com, Williams, 54, returned to her on-air job March 4 after taking a two-month break. At the time, she said her Graves’ disease was behind her absence.
Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disorder that leads to an overactive thyroid, says the Thyroid Foundation of Canada. The thyroid is a gland that controls metabolism. Graves’ can cause bulging eyes, weight loss, irritability, excessive sweating, shakiness, palpitations, increased bowel movements and muscle weakness.
During her show Tuesday, Williams’ said her absence was about more than her Graves’.
The New Jersey resident didn’t say whether she was addicted to a substance now, but talked about her current 24-hour sober coach, her 10 p.m. curfew and the friends she has made in her sober living facility.
